  • JJ talks about doing something that terrified her because it’s been the most impactful thing to happen to her.
  • 11 months ago she was on top of the world. “Looking back I had no idea how powerful this was all going to be – and really because of a question.” (2:40)

  • While her professional life seemed perfect, reality was that she was needing to reconnect with her teenage sons. (3:29)
  • “It’s amazing how an instant decision can just change everything.” (4:23)
  • On an ordinary evening with her family, her son Grant left home and was hit by a car.(4:53)
  • At the hospital she was told nothing could be done, to let him go, but she couldn’t. (5:11)
  • Alone in the ICU, in a very dark place, completely powerless, out of control, she had to do something. (5:30)

  • She realized she could not do what she had planned to promote her book and care for her son, and that it wouldn’t be enough. She sent out an S.O.S. to business affiliates and partners and they stepped up to help her. (08:00)
  • The book debuts at #3, on the  list for 23 weeks, $6 million so far. (08:50)
  • This story is really a story about getting totally vulnerable. (9:05)
  • “What does it do for you when you hear someone share this piece of them? It makes them approachable, it makes them relatable. You start to identify with them. You want to be a part of it. “(9:15)
  • Now people ask her about Grant, and then they share what has happened to them, because of her work. (9:34)
  • “It’s really incredible – It’s also incredibly scary. But the more you start do it, the more your comfort zone expands, and it becomes just the way that you live and you get so much more from doing it.” (9:50)
  • “When you give like this, it’s incredible what it does for other people.” (10:15)
  • We all have something we can share that people can relate to. “It’s not enough to just be real or authentic, it is a matter of sharing the struggle, sharing the pain.” (10:33)
  • Looking back, It’s all how you frame it: “This past 11 months have been the most amazing time of my entire life. It’s been the best for my family – we’re connected again.”(11:00)
  • It’s so incredible to see what can come from a place of total vulnerability, of asking that question, asking for help.  You find out that it’s actually the most empowering thing that can happen to you. (11:12)
