  • Everyone has ways they think about life, and doing life… 
  • Harvey Mackay does a newspaper column that goes out to a few hundred newspapers and he’s been writing for a long time.
  • Whenever you have an idea you actually want to write things, or print them out and start collecting little vignettes in baskets
  • If it’s going to be management, business, marketing, hiring, or operations…
  • After a while you start having all of these stacks of different things that end up becoming books
  • Harvey shared that it’s actually not that hard to write books. It’s just that people don’t… they forget just how much they know and the many different ideas.
  • If you just think about lessons, there’s a whole bunch of different lessons that we have. 
  • If you weren’t around, what would you want to leave in terms of lessons with the world? What do you learn every day? 
  • In a lot of ways, what people hire you for, if you are teaching them things that they can either find somewhere else or watch on YouTube… it’s a reminder service.  
  • What are the reminders that would be helpful for you, helpful for your Clients, and can you package them and deliver them? 
  • Once the foundation is built, you can just build upon it.
  • At some point in the next week, sit down and write the best life lessons and the best business lessons that you’ve ever learned and start sharing those with people in a way to where they would get to know you and bond with you.
  • It’s all about bundling and unbundling things. What you do as a marketer, is you become a packager. How do you package this up? 
  • It’s like Dan Sullivan says, “As Entrepreneurs, you make it up and you make it real.” That’s what we do. We solve problems for a profit. 
  • Other people’s bad news is your good news. 
  • Most of the money that you’re going to make is transforming other people’s bad news into good news. 
  • You’ll do that through strategies, through processes, through products, through services. 
  • Until you bond with people, they don’t know much about you… or have rapport with you. 
  • If you’re just like, “I‘ve got to make a sale,” that’s much different than if you’re in the relationship business where you’re going to start stacking up relationships, and bond with people. 
  • You can put all of this money into generating a lead or creating an interest, but what do you do along the way
  • That’s why the lessons that you know about business stuff you’re doing are not just valuable for you to unpackage or to package… the great stuff that you have in your brain is actually the ingredients needed to develop these long-term relationships. 
  • It’s the whole, “People don’t do business with you because they understand what you do, people do business with you because they feel understood.”
  • You could be a five dollar toll booth, or you can be a hundred thousand dollar toll booth, but it’s all about the relationship
  • Don’t dismiss all of the knowledge and lessons that you have, because what happens is the things that you do the BEST you give away for free hoping that someone’s going to hire you. Then you get paid for the commodity. It can be the opposite.
  • The whole point though is YOU are filled with life lessons, business lessons, and things that would be really helpful. Now GO write that book!
