On July 1st, 2020, Broadcasting & Communications Legend Hugh Down passed away at the age of 99. He was well known for his role as host and journalist on the Today Show, ABC's 20/20, and more. Hugh Downs was an American Radio and Television Broadcaster, News Anchor, TV Producer, Author, and even a Music Composer. He was kind, funny, and wise. And, he was one of the most prolific communicators of the 20th century.
It is in celebration of our freedoms in this great country, and in tribute to the memory of Mr. Downs, one of the greatest voices in television journalism from the 1950s through the 1990s, that we share with you this collection wisdom that Genius Network® Founder, Joe Polish, created with Mr. Downs over the years… If you take the time to watch the presentation Hugh gave at our 2009 annual event and the interview Joe did with Hugh shortly before that you’ll not only get to know Hugh and his extraordinary life, but you’ll gain tremendously useful insights into Communications, Entrepreneurship, Freedom and more! It was Genius Network® Member, Brian Kurtz, who first introduced Joe to Hugh Downs. Brian is a living legend in the direct mail, and founder of Titans Marketing®.
In this tribute we also want to share with you a Brian's most recent article: "We're In Touch, So You Be In Touch."
It is a stunning and heartfelt eulogy in memory of Hugh Downs.
Brian shares about his friendship with Hugh, and the lessons of authenticity, generosity, and honor that Hugh leaves us all.
Hugh was a hero to Boardroom, Inc. (Brian's former company), and more importantly, to millions of people who bought The World’s Greatest Treasury of Health Secrets — which was one of Hugh's focuses in his “retirement.”
"We're In Touch, So You Be In Touch" was Hugh's ABC 20/20 sign-off signature phrase for decades and beloved by viewers the world over.
Joe Polish has been called the “world's best connector”- and for good reason.
The once ponytailed, dead-broke, drug addicted carpet cleaner became a millionaire by the age of 30 and then went on to establish the world's two highest-level marketing groups (Genius Network® and GeniusX®).
So how does an “average Joe” from Arizona come to advise everyone from Arianna Huffington to Paula Abdul? How does he grow close to Richard Branson, host Tony Robbins at his events and help people like Peter Diamandis launch books to bestseller status?
The answers to most of those questions can be found in Joe's newest book, “Life Gives To The Giver.” From advice on marketing and selling to thoughts on wellness and recovery, Life Gives to the Giver is packed with both wisdom and witticism, providing those who wish to succeed in business-and life-a treasure trove that can help guide them exactly where they want to go.
